The hotel is in a great location and is walkable to the harbor area, and many shops and restaurants. Bus Stop 1 is only a few minutes away by foot. The hotel site has an interesting history honored through pictures in the hallways. Don't miss The Settlement Exhibition next door to learn more. We accepted the hotel's invitation to upgrade to a larger room. We're glad we did as we stayed 6 nights. Downstairs has a comfortable pull-out sofa bed. My friend said she slept well. I was upstairs, where the loft had a traditional bed (queen?), desk and coffeemaker. Both areas had spacious closets and we were able to stash everything away instead of tripping over luggage. We appreciated how quiet it was. The breakfast buffet had lots of choices. Food was tasty and staff very friendly. We also visited the bar at night. Service was very good and the bartender also was friendly. I would consider this hotel a top choice if I were to go back to Reykjavik.

We had no complaints. The room was clean and the size was expected. They were able to honor our request to have our two rooms next to each other. Each of the staff that we met was very friendly and helpful. Marina at the front desk was especially helpful as she gave us a lot of information about trips and even booked most of them! I have seen some complaints about the breakfast area being crowded, but we had no problem. The front desk even took actions to help alleviate the problem by asking us each day when we expected to be having breakfast. The location was perfect for us. Everything we wanted to see in the city center was in walking distance as was the bus stop we needed for our excursion.

Lovely hotel, we arrived earlier than check in time but we able to leave our suitcase in the luggage room until the room was ready. Nice and quiet location, perfect for wandering Reykjavik (5-10 min walk to main streets) and was also very close to bus stop 1 (2 min walk) where we were picked up for all of our tours on the trip. Breakfast had a great selection of hot and cold food. Staff on hand to top up anything that got low. Beds were made and towels changed each day (if required by us). Staff very polite and on hand to answer any queries on our stay. Definitely come back ***

We chose a junior suite so that we had a bit more room and it was perfect. Lots of storage room, comfy beds and bedding, small fridge in the suite, and adjustable heating through radiator which means it was easy to get it to the temperature we wanted. The hotel itself had good decor and facilitities, great breakfast. The best thing about the hotel were the receptionists - friendly, helpful, made recommendations, answered queries and booked taxis and always smiling.

We were pleasantly surprised that the breakfast was much more than continental with a great range on offer, including cereals, fruit, cold meats, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, danish pastries, bread etc. The hotel is ideally situated in the centre and close to pick-up bus stops for tours, the harbour for boat trips and a plentiful supply of restaurants and shops and bars.
